Mid-infrared nuclear emission in QSOs
Abstract
We present mid-infraed (MIR) sub-arcsec observations of a sample of 20 nearby (z<0.1) MIR-bright quasars (N > 50 mJy) observed at 8.7 μm on the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio de Canarias (GTC). The radial profile of the quasars are analyzed and we find that mostly all MIR emission is unresolved. We derive the spectral energy distribution (SED) of the nuclear emission, combining measurements from the literature and model the clumpy tori that could originate this emission. We discuss our results in the context of other tori measured in Seyfert and Ultra Luminous IR Galaxies (ULIRGS).
