Spectroscopic Observations of Hundreds of Star Formation Regions in M33 and M101
Abstract
Using the Hectospec multi-fiber spectrograph of the MMT, we present the largest (about 800 HII regions in two nearby galaxies) ever full-wavelength optical spectroscopic sample of star formation regions in M33 and M101. With the spectra of a large sample of star formation regions, combining multi-wavelength data from UV to IR, we investigate, understand and quantify the nature of the deviation from the starbursts IRX$-\beta$ correlation, and also the metallicity and stellar population gradients in nearby spiral galaxies, which provide spatially resolved properties of gas, dust and stellar populations of galaxies.
