Variations In Young Solar Analogs Over The Last Eight Years
Abstract
The YSA project has been monitoring since 2007 both spectroscopically and photometrically a set of 31 young (300 - 1500 Myr) solar-type stars with the goal of obtaining insight into the space environment of the Earth during the time period when life first appeared. We have been careful to transform our data to the Mount Wilson S chromospheric activity index. Results for both chromospheric and photospheric indices are presented in time series plots, and we discuss observed correlations and anti-correlations between those indices on long (multi-year) timescales. We also mention variability of the program stars on medium (days-months) and short (minutes-hours) timescales.
