Study of X-ray flares in AB Dor by XMM Newton
Abstract
Using 10.7 years soft X-ray observations of AB Dor from XMM-Newton,we performed time resolved spectral analysis of flares. Total 82 flares were detected in X-ray band. Loop lengths derived for the flaring structure are found to be less than the stellar radius (length L < R ). The maximum temperatures during the flares are found to be of the order of tens of a million degree Kelvin. The duration of the flares are found in the range of 3 - 20 ks. However, the decay time varies from 0.8 - 22.8 ks. The decay time tau_{d} was related to rise time tau_{r} as tau_{d}\ alpha\ tau_{r} ({0.51) ± 0.07}.
