Physical proccesses in magnetic CVs with fast-rotating white dwarfs
Abstract
The flow structure in magnetic cataclysmic variables was investigated taking into account the effects of strong magnetic field and fast rotation of the white dwarf. We model the AE Aqr system as a representative observational object whose spin period of the accretor is about 1000 times shorter than the orbital period of the system. Observations show that in spite of the fast rotation some part of the stream from the inner Lagrangian point comes into the Roche lobe region. We analyze the possible mechanisms preventing material to outflow from the system. Among these mechanisms are the ambipolar diffusion, the pressure of the magneto-dipole radiation, the relativistic retard and the incomplete penetration of the magnetic field to plasma. Results of our analysis shows that the last mechanism is the most effective.\To discriminate between these mechanisms it is necessary to get information about the flow structure around the accretor. The World Space Observatory-Ultraviolet can provide needed information in UV spectral range.
