Evolution of the stapeliads (Apocynaceae–Asclepiadoideae) – repeated major radiation across Africa in an Old World group
Abstract
Seven DNA markers resolve phylogeny of succulent stapeliads (Apocynaceae). Stapeliads have radiated twice across Africa from north to south and back to north again. Most clades represent regional groupings. Floral morphology is extremely variable within clades.
