The origin of the soft excess emission in Ark 120, and the importance of taking the broad view
Abstract
We present results of a simultaneous NuSTAR and XMM-Newton observation of the bright radio-quiet Seyfert 1 galaxy, Ark 120. The broad band coverage allowed us to disentagle the variousspectral components, and in particular the soft X-ray emission. For the latter component, we found that Comptonization by a population of warm electrons is the most likely explanation.
