Vanessa- Validation of numerical Engineering Simulation Actions
Abstract
For high frequency telecommunication antennas the requirements for thermo-mechanical deformations become more and more demanding. The in-orbit deformation of an antenna's reflective surface is one of the key parameters in structural antenna design and is mainly assessed by numerical simulations. One goal of the VANESSA [1] project is to establish a validation methodology for such simulations within a standards framework and to promote the adoption of the methodology within the European industrial and scientific communities. For the example of a multi- beam dual reflector antenna structure, developed by HPS GmbH [2], the difference between the usual approach to validation by discrete data comparison and the new VANESSA validation procedure is presented.
