PROM4: 1D isothermal and isobaric modeler for solar prominences
Abstract
PROM4 computes simple models of solar prominences which consist of planeparallel slabs standing vertically above the solar surface. Each model is defined by 5 parameters: temperature, density, geometrical thickness, microturbulent velocity and height above the solar surface. PROM4 solves the equations of radiative transfer, statistical equilibrium, ionization and pressure equilibria, and computes electron and hydrogen level populations and hydrogen line profiles. Written in Fortran 90 and with two versions available (one with text in English, one with text in French), the code needs 64bit arithmetic for real numbers.
PROM7 (ascl:1805.023) is a more recent version of this code.
