Reflection of Low Frequency Equatorial Kelvin Waves at Obliquely Oriented Eastern Boundaries
Abstract
Analytical solutions for the reflection of low-frequency Kelvin waves from a meridionally oriented eastern boundary are well known. This work presents an approximate analytical solution for the lowest few modes of long-Rossby waves reflected from eastern boundary that is straight, but oriented at an arbitrary angle to the local meridian. Application to the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean is discussed.
