Time variability of GRACE data using JPL mascons
Abstract
The time variability of the new JPL mascon GRACE solutions is characterized on multiple time scales. Their power spectra are mapped onto the visible spectrum of light, following the approach in Hughes and Williams 2010. These spectra are compared to those from the Noah land hydrology model in the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS). Characterizing temporal correlations leads to a rigorous calculation of the statistical significance of mass trends.
