SATMC: A Monte Carlo Markov Chain Approach to SED Fitting
Abstract
We present our spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting code, SATMC, developed using Monte Carlo Markov Chain algorithms. By design, SATMC is a powerful and flexible tool that covers all forms of modern day SED analysis, improving from standard least-squares methods by providing error estimates and the underlying posterior parameter distribution. Presently, we provide a sample of test cases, from simple SED fits to photo-z estimation, that attest to SATMC's versatility and robustness. We also show preliminary results from an ongoing analysis of modeling the SEDs of Sub-millimeter galaxies with the SED synthesis tool GRASIL.
