Supernova science at LCOGT
Abstract
Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network (LCOGT) has one robotic 1m telescope at McDonald Observatory, three at CTIO, three more on the way to South Africa, and two heading to Siding Spring, Australia in early 2013. We also have two robotic 2m Faulkes Telescopes that have recently been outfitted with FLOYDS low-resolution spectrographs. Here we present recent supernova science from LCOGT, building on our collaborations with the Palomar Transient Factory, Pan-STARRS1, and the La Silla-Quest Supernova Search. We show lightcurves and spectra from recent supernovae, and highlight recent results, including: PTF11kx, a supernova with a recurrent nova progenitor, our HST STIS Cycle 17 and 18 campaigns to understand the ultraviolet behavior of SNe, early spectra of SNe Ia from our Gemini program, including the detection of unburned carbon, extreme supernovae, and synergistic studies with high redshift supernovae from the Supernova Legacy Survey.
