Proton Compton scattering cross section in different variants of chiral effective field theory
Abstract
We compare the predictions of different variants of chiral effective field theory for the γp elastic scattering differential cross section. We pay particular attention to the role of pion loops, and the impact that a heavy-baryon expansion has on the behavior of those loops. We also correct erroneous results for these loops that were published by Pascalutsa and Phillips [Phys. Rev. CPRVCAN0556-281310.1103/PhysRevC.67.055202 67, 055202 (2003)].
