EVALUATION METHOD OF SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF CABLE IN SUPERANNUATED TELECOMMUNICATION CONDUITS REINFORCED BY PVC LINING
Abstract
The telecommunication conduits are needed to protect underground cables from damages due to earthquakes.However, the seismic capacity is being degraded due to the superannuated conduits that were constructed during the high-growth economic period.To sustain the reliability of the conduits efficiently through maintenance is the current challenge.
In this paper, we have evaluated to determine whether the seismic capacity can be improved by reinforcing inside tube wall of conduit with PVC lining by grasping as well as analyzing the damages of the telecommunication conduit due to the Chuetsu Offshore Earthquake in Niigata Prefecture through field study and using seismic deformation method. As the result, it was confirmed that the enhancement of the seismic capacity is indeed possible by applying PVC lining to the superannuated conduits.- Publication:
