Assessment of the CESAR Reference Technology Platform for Space Systems
Abstract
System engineering is a key subject in order to address the ever increasing complexity and criticality of systems in space industry as well as in most application domains. A significant effort must be achieved to deploy adequate tools and information technologies with the aim to support fine tuned system development engineering practices and processes. The CESAR project2 aims at elaborating a Reference Technology Platform usable across several application domains (Aeronautics, Automotive, Industrial Automation, Railway and Space) for the cost effective development and validation of safety related embedded systems. The aim is to provide industry with a set of enablers that can support the construction of company dependent process and tool support platform. Therefore, the RTP is not a monolithic framework, but a set of tools and services supported by appropriate methodologies and processes, that offer significant place for customization according to the needs of application domains or even on a per organisation basis.
