Analysis of Wavelet Application Results for Along Track Multi-Resolution Analysis of GOCE SGG Data
Abstract
In the frequency domain various methodologies can be employed to filter GOCE Satellite Gravity Gradiometer (SGG) along-track data for signatures outside the measurement bandwidth of the gradiometer. A possibility is to utilize the localization properties of wavelets in both the frequency and space domains to decompose, analyze and reconstruct the gravity field signal in SGG data at different levels of wavelet decomposition in a Wavelet Multi-Resolution Analysis (WMRA). Results from a simultaneous analysis in scale (frequency) and space domain are presented for along track WMRA of GOCE SGG data. This analysis is expected to help in identifying and eliminating temporally and spatially correlated errors which exist in the data. Conclusions about the performance of WRMA will be drawn regarding the signal content improvement of along-track GOCE data.
