The leading position of the European Astronomy
Abstract
The European Southern Observatory (ESO) was officially established in 1962 which currently unites 14 European countries. ESA (European Space Agency) was founded in 1975 and it unites 22 countries. EAS (European Astronomical Society) was established in 1990 and has 24 affiliated national astronomical societies. These 3 organizations coordinate the development of astronomy in Europe and make the 2nd (after the USA) large centre for astronomy in the world.
