High-resolution Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Imaging Of Galaxy Clusters With The GBT+MUSTANG
Abstract
I present recent high angular resolution (9") Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect (SZE) observations with MUSTANG, a 90-GHz bolometric receiver on the 100 meter Green Bank Telescope. MUSTANG has now imaged several massive clusters of galaxies in some of the highest-resolution SZE imaging to date, revealing complex pressure substructure within the hot intra-cluster gas in merging clusters. Here I focus on two intermediate redshift clusters from the CLASH sample: MACS J0717.5+3745 and MACS J0647.7+7015. Preliminary observations of MACS J0717.5+3745 confirm the suspected shock found in X-ray and radio observations, while those of MACS J0647.7+7015 reveal a cuspy core. I will also discuss prospects for the proposed successor to MUSTANG, with the potential for over an order of magnitude higher sensitivity.
