Numerical Studies Of CO2 Flows In U-13 RF- Plasmatron
Abstract
Numerical method for simulation of equilibrium and nonequilibrium flows in inductive plasma facilities used for modeling of the thermal characterization of re-entry vehicles at their descent in the planetary atmospheres is described. The results of flow simulations specific for an inter-planetary probe entry to the Martian atmosphere are addressed in the paper. The special attention is paid to the difference of flows in CO2 and air plasma, peculiarities of the numerical algorithm used for numerical modeling, thermochemical model description as well as comparison of available experimental and numerical data.
