ONERA Experimental Contribution To ExoMars Project
Abstract
In the framework of the ESA ExoMars project, the ONERA F4 facility was involved in the experimental investigation of the capsule's aerodynamic characteristics under high enthalpy CO2 flow. Model measurements, consisting in pressures and heat fluxes distributions together with aerodynamic coefficients, were connected to flow characterization using both Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy measurements and Navier-Stokes flow rebuilding. Crosschecking of pressures and global forces measurements are used to demonstrate consistency of experimental data. Real gas effects on drag coefficients are discussed.
