Investigation of Structural and Optical Properties of MoO3-PbO-B2O3:V2O5 Glasses
Abstract
Glasses with compositions xMoO3.(40-x)PbO.60B2O3:V2O5 (2 mol%) have been prepared by melt-quenching technique. The change in density as well as molar volume is discussed in terms of the structural modifications on replacing PbO by MoO3. From the refractive index data, it is expected that dispersion of the light by the glass samples of the present series is decreases with increase in MoO3 content. From the optical absorption spectra, it is found that both indirect allowed and indirect forbidden transitions are involved. The values of theoretical optical basicity of these glasses have also been estimated.
