Motion of imperfect spheroid in elastic medium: a singularity method approach
Abstract
In the present paper, solution to the displacement problem of an imperfect rigid spheroidal particle in an infinite elastic medium is constructed with the help of singularities of the elastostatic equations. The analysis reveals that for small deformity while the force on the particle remains unchanged, a couple gets generated. In the end, drag coefficient of the net force experienced by the body along x-axis is evaluated which increases as aspect ratio δ = b/a increases and Poisson's ratio corresponding to the material varies.
