Improving Sar-Based Analysis Of Urban Areas: Segments And Statistical Features
Abstract
This paper summarizes the research work carried out at the University of Pavia in the framework of the Dragon 2 Project devoted to 'Urbanisation'. A preliminary version of his work was presented at the Barcelona meeting in 2009. The developed procedure consists in a human settlement extraction procedure for SAR images based on Local Indicators of Spatial Association (LISA) and textural features, followed by a refined classification of these areas according to land use classes. The results obtained using ASAR images of Shanghai show potentials for the use of these techniques in urban area monitoring using SAR and will be optimized and improved in the last two years of the Dragon 2 project.
