Search for Structural Variations of the Near-Surface Layers of the Sun during the Solar Cycle
Abstract
Acoustic mode frequencies, with degree up to 900, observed by Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) from 1995 to 2005 were analyzed to determine if there are any changes in the near-surface layers of the solar structure with the solar cycle. The inclusion of high-degree modes allowed the determination of the sound speed up to 0.993 Rsun.
