Large Area Telescope Data from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope
Abstract
Data from the Large Area Telescope (LAT), the primary instrument on-board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, will be available to the community through the Fermi Science Support Center (FSSC) website. During the first year of operations, only high level data (fluxes and light curves) will be available for a selected list of monitored sources as well as strongly flaring sources. Beginning in the second year, the photon and event data will also become public, including data collected during the first year.
We present descriptions of the data currently available as well as that which will be released starting in year two. We also present the data archive and details on how the data may be accessed from the FSSC website. For the high level data products the FSSC website will link to the NASA High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center's (HEASARC) Browse interface, which will actually serve the data. However, the photon and event data produced by the LAT will be distributed through a custom FSSC server designed to deal with the unique nature of the LAT data.- Publication:
