Studying the Origin of High Energy Emission in Relativistic Jets of Gamma-Ray Blazars
Abstract
We propose to perform two 2-week multiwaveband campaigns of the gamma- ray blazars 1) 0716+714, 0829+046, and 0836+710 in 2009 from April 17 to April 30; and 2) 0235+164, 0528+134, and 1730-130 in 2009 from September 12 to September 26. The campaigns aim to study properties of rapid gamma-ray, X-ray, and optical variations and their connection to disturbances seen in the compact radio jet. Time delays between X-ray, gamma-ray, and optical variations will be related to new superluminal knots seen in total and polarized intensity images at 43 GHz, which in turn will be linked to optical emission via similar polarization properties.
