The MAXI mission operation plan
Abstract
Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image (MAXI) is an X-ray all-sky monitor, which will be delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2009, to scan the whole sky once every 96 minutes for mission life of two to five years. One of the MAXI objectives is the continuous observations and the quick distribution of observation results, including the transmission of X-ray nova alerts to the Internet. The degree of observation continuity and the quickness of the data distribution both are assessed and presented by taking account of constraints imposed by the ISS orbit, the ISS electricity and communication resources, the MAXI design, and the performance of the MAXI ground data analysis system.
