Rotation Periods and H Magnitudes of Two Koronis Family Members
Abstract
Koronis family asteroids (2268) Szmytowna and (1443) Ruppina were observed at Whitin Observatory in Wellesley, Massachusetts during September - December 2007. The lightcurve observations yield the first determinations of their rotation periods, and the data were also calibrated to standard V magnitudes to improve the estimates for the absolute magnitudes H and the diameters for both objects. The steps used to calibrate Szmytowna to V are discussed in some detail, to demonstrate the simplified method for standard star calibration described by Binzel (2005).
