The British Contribution to JWST-MIRI
Abstract
We describe the contributions being made by the UK to MIRI (Mid Infra-Red Instrument), an astronomical instrument sensitive to thermal infrared radiation, which is scheduled to fly on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in 2013. MIRI is being built by a consortium of European institutes led by the UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UKATC) in Edinburgh. The UK also provides key contributions in the areas of hardware, assembly, integration and verification as well as providing the system engineering, management and product assurance leadership for the consortium.
