Combined Use of ALOS AVNIR-2 and PALSAR Data for Mapping and Monitoring of Wetland Vegetation in the Eider-Treene Lowlands and the Amu Darya Delta- First Results
Abstract
The main objectives of the study are evaluate the possibilities and constraints of the single and combined use of ALOS AVNIR-2 and PALSAR data for mapping and monitoring of wetland vegetation. The combined usage is tested in two different ecosystem types. In the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowlands in northern Germany the focus is on the monitoring of Natura 2000 habitats, in the southern Aral Sea region the focus is the monitoring of Asian migratory locust habitats. For both regions the additional value of the combined usage of AVNIR and PALSAR for wetland classification is indicated by the first results.
