Crossover of the 5f electrons from itinerant to localized in UPtGa 5
Abstract
UPtGa 5 with the tetragonal structure is an antiferromagnet with a Néel temperature TN=26 K and a small ordered moment μs=0.34μB/U. From the de Haas-van Alphen experiment and the magnetic susceptibility measurement at high temperatures up to 800 K, together with the spin (orbital)-polarized 5f-itinerant band calculations, the 5f electrons are found to be changed from the itinerant nature at low temperatures to the localized nature at high temperatures.
