Supernova 2006es in UGC 2828
Abstract
A. V. Filippenko, D. S. Wong, M. Ganeshalingam, M. Moore, and R. J. Foley, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1040 nm), obtained on Sept. 2 UT with the Shane 3-m telescope (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2006es is a type-Ia supernova, about 3-4 weeks past maximum brightness. The recession velocity of the host galaxy is 12250 km/s, based on narrow H II-region emission lines.
