Cyberinfrastructure for Environmental Observatories

Modern, large, distributed observing systems require a modern cyberinfrastructure in order to maximize their utility for research and operational needs. The authors will describe some of the ways in which NSF provides support for the development of such cyberinfrastructure. This discussion will be set in the context of efforts to develop cyberinfrastructure for distributed, in situ, observing systems to support research on oceanic and terrestrial environmental systems.
