Changes in Position and Elevation of Dome Fuji, east Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, during the Ice Age Cycle, Simulated by a Three-Dimensional Numerical Ice Sheet Model
Abstract
In order to aid the analysis and dating of ice core, numerical experiments are performed for the Antarctic Ice Sheet to discuss the sensitivity of the position and elevation of Dome Fuji, east Dronning Maud Land, to various boundary conditions. The sensitivity studies show that both glacial condition of ice sheet area and that of accumulation have minor effect for change in the position of Dome Fuji, but the same effect toward interior. On the other hand, glacial condition of ice sheet area that affects the elevation of Dome Fuji is, even at maximum, less than climate change effects. Amplitude of the elevation change is not so large as the range by uncertainties of unknown factors. In addition, influence on dating by changes in flow patterns and ice sheet shapes is discussed.
