The Hard X-ray Bright Magnetic Catclysmic Variable IGR J14536-5522=Swift J1453.4-5524
Abstract
Cataclysmic variables (CVs) are an important class of X-ray emitting objects, including the hard (>10 keV) X-ray regime that INTEGRAL and Swift/BAT have begun to explore. Many CVs detected above 10 keV so far are well known objects, but some are little known or previously unnoticed objects. Here we present our preliminary analysis of one example of the latter, IGR J14536-5522=Swift J1453.4-5514. using a pointed Swift observation as well as optical spectroscopy with SALT and optical photometry with SAAO 1.9m telescope, we show that this is likely to be a rare type of magnetic CV.
