Simulating Particle Dynamics in Tangled Magnetic Fields
Abstract
We report on the initial stages of a detailed simulation of particle dynamics in randomly oriented magnetic fields, such as may be found in the jet structures of microquasars and active galactic nuclei. Details of the simulation structure are presented, as well as a first--order study of the dependence of particle escape times on the magnetic field order parameter(s). In particular, we discuss the degree to which ``magnetic bottles'' may be approximated by tangled magnetic fields in jet environments.
