Zeeman splitting of CrI 6881.715, ScII 6882.520 and CrI 6883.070 lines in α Cen A
Abstract
The Zeeman circular polarization spectrum of CrI 6881.715, ScII 6882.520 and CrI 6883.070 lines of α Cen A, which are located between the two telluric lines 6881 and 6884 Å, were studied. Telluric lines show no such effect of splitting, and were used as a reference for interchanging of the left and right circular polarization of the stellar spectrum. From the Zeeman splitting of CrI 6881.715, ScII 6882.520 and CrI 6883.070 lines, an average magnetic field of about 247 G was estimated. This high magnetic field may be the result of the high X-ray activity or the strong spots.
