Obtaining the structured magnetic fluids in an electric field and their technical applications
Abstract
It is known that the phenomena of structurization, electrization, conductivity and electrohydrodynamic flow in the magnetic fluid (MF) are interconnected. The primary goal of the present research is to reveal the influence of physical and chemical processes in the boundary layer on the given phenomena. In this work, we study the growth, transformation and disintegration of aggregates, formed in the boundary layer under the action of electric and magnetic fields and also in the shear flow in the MF film. It is shown that the structure of solid phase aggregates formed in the boundary area renders a dominating influence on the physical properties of the MF film. The aggregates can be controlled by electric and magnetic fields and the shear flow. Some practical applications of the structured magnetic fluids are given. Figs 14, Refs 10.
