Transition to zero resistance in an irradiated 2DEG
Abstract
Recent experiments have demonstrated that high mobility 2D electron systems driven with microwaves exhibit an oscillatory longitudinal resistance that vanishes for certain magnetic field strengths [1]. While theoretical calculations [2] predict a negative longitudinal resistivity, Andreev et al. (PRL 91, 056803 (2003)) showed that this renders the system unstable towards an inhomogeneous zero resistance state. We explore analytically and numerically the properties of the transition to this inhomogeneous state. [1] M. A. Zudov et al., PRL 90, 046807 (2003); R. G.
