Vortex lattice and single vortex properties of MgB2
Abstract
Motivated by recent experiments on MgB2[1,2], we examine the mixed state properties of a two-band superconductor. In particular, we study the effects of impurities on the vortex structure in terms of the coupled Eilenberger and Usadel equations. Furthermore, the observed vortex lattice re-orientation for the field along the c-axis in MgB2 is examined. We argue that an anisotropy in pairing interaction will give rise to this transition. The resulting vortex lattice phase diagram differs qualitatively from that due to an anisotropy in the Fermi velocities. [1] Eskildsen et. al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 89 (2002) 87003.
