Probing the Fermi surfaces of quasi-2D κ-(ET)_2I3 and κ-(ET)_2Cu(NCS)_2
Abstract
Similar to the High-Tc superconductors (HTSC), the κ-(ET)_2X (X=Cu(NSC)2 and I_3) salts have quasi-two-dimensional electronic properties and a superconducting ground state, with T_c=10.4 and 3.6K respectively. The κ-(ET)_2X salts also have a similar phase diagram to the HTSC in which an insulating antiferromagnetic phase and conventional and unconventional metallic phases coexist. The nature of the superconductivity of κ-(ET)_2X is still a mystery, but the topology of the Fermi surface, especially its nesting property, could be important because of the evidence for strong electron-electron interactions. In this report, we present a detailed picture of Fermi surface for κ-(ET)_2Cu(NSC)2 and κ-(ET)_2I_3, which is probed by high-frequency (microwave) angle dependent magnetoresistance measurement.
