Coherent spin precession in semiconductors through spin packet drag
Abstract
Recent experiments have demonstrated the possibility of coherently manipulating electron spins without applied magnetic fields through spin drag in semiconductors.^1 We present calculations of precessional angles as a function of electric field for bulk unstrained and strained GaAs and InAs semiconductors, and for quantum wells. The influence of the coherent precession on spin coherence times was also deduced, and for small spin packet drift velocities the spin coherence time is not significantly changed by the drag velocity.
