An investigation on Chinese skyway network
Abstract
Chinese skyway network has been investigated, in which nodes are defined as the airports and the edges are defined as skyways connecting each pair of airports. A statistics on the network in 2002 is performed with 140 nodes and 688 edges. It is found that the network is a small world one. The average shortest-path length of it is 2.2, and the clustering coefficient is 0.46. Also, the distribution of the average node degree shows a good scale-free property. The largest degree is 75, and the average degree is 4.7. In 1978 we can find only 38 nodes and 82 edges, and in 1998 114 nodes and 302 edges. The network in 1978 does not show any statistical scaling property of the average node degree. For the network in 1998, the scale-free property seems existing but poor. That shows a development process of Chinese skyway network. To explain the process, we suggest a self-adaptive developing model of Chinese skyway network. The simulating results based on it show a good agreement with the statistical results.
