Public Interest Science: Careers in the Non-Profit Community
Abstract
This talk will discuss (1) the various types of non-profit organizations working on public policy issues in the United States; (2) the different roles they play in formulating and influencing public policy; (3) the kinds of expertise and experience required for their staff; (4) the employment options for physicists at such organizations; and (5) some of the rewards and frustrations of such a career. The discussion will include specific examples of physicists who have made careers in the non-profit public policy sector.
