Angular distributions of H-induced HD and D2 desorptions on Si(100) surfaces
Abstract
in of D adatms by H atoms on Si(100) can be categorizes as, Direct abstraction(ABS): H+D/Si→ HD, or Adsorption-induced-desorption(AID): H+D/Si→ D_2. We have measured the angular distributions y(θ _f) of desorbing HD and D2 molecules. We have found that y(θ _f) for both ABS and AID reactions have a peak at θ _f=0^o or along the surface normal. The width of y(θ _f) is found to be broader for ABS than for AID. The dynamical mechanism for ABS and AID are discussed
