Summary of X-ray conversion efficiency and symmetry experiments in hohlraums on Omega
Abstract
Since 1999, CEA performs experiments on Omega in collaboration with LLNL. A summary of the interpretation of those relative to X-ray conversion efficiency and symmetry performed between 2001 and 2003, with 2 or 3 cone irradiation and pulse shape PS26, is shown here. The measurement of the backscattering along the 3 cones of the LMJ-like irradiation gives a good estimation of the effective energy entering the hohlraum. The calculations with the 2D hydro code FCI2 are compared to the measurements of the radiation temperature with DMX and Dante and to the evolution of irradiation symmetry with radiography diagnostics.
