Cosmic censorship violation in anti de Sitter space
Abstract
Cosmic censorship is much easier to violate in spacetimes with a negative cosmological constant. We show that with asymptotically anti de Sitter boundary conditions, there are matter theories satisfying the positive energy theorem which violate cosmic censorship. These boundary conditions are of particular interest in string theory, and some of the matter theories arise as the low energy limit of string theory. In these cases, there are indications that string theory resolves the naked singularities.
