Detecting Brown Dwarfs, Disks and Protostars with Spitzer: First Galactic Results from the IRAC GTO Program
Abstract
One-third of the IRAC GTO program is dedicated to observing sources within our Galaxy. These observations target a diverse set of objects including nearby stars, brown dwarfs, star-forming regions, circumstellar disks, planetary nebula, PDRs, and outflows. We will show how the IRAC colors can be used to identify objects in our galaxy such as brown dwarfs, young stars with disks and protostars, and give examples how these colors are being used in studies of star and planet formation. We will then present highlights from the first six months of galactic observations with IRAC.
