The detection of new dust-related IR emission features.
Abstract
We report the detection of a strong, broad, symmetric, new dust feature at 8.9 microns in the well-known compact HII region IRAS18434-0242 (G29.96-0.02). This is the only source in our sample of 45 HII regions exhibiting this new emission feature. Its spatial distribution differs from that of the 11.2 micron PAH feature and the 12 micron dust continuum. The peak position and profile of this 8.9 micron feature ressemble the MIR spectrum of ash (Morterra & Low 1985).
We also report infrared spectral evidence of deuterated interstellar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Two emission features at 4.4 and 4.6 microns have been detected in the Orion Bar at a 1.9 and 4.4 sigma level respectively. These wavelengths are unique to C-D stretching modes of deuterated PAHs.- Publication:
